Friends are of course loving and helpful at times of need. They also put us in critical position at times either intentionally or unintentionally. Mullah Nasrudin’s old friend Eynolla came to visit him one day from a far away village.

“I want to introduce you to a few people,” Mullah told Eynolla. “OK,” replied Eynolla, “but please lend me a turban, for I am not properly dressed.” So Mullah lent him the turban, and they went and visited one of Mullah’s friends. “This is my friend Eynolla,” Mullah said, “but the turban he’s wearing is mine.” Deeply annoyed by the remark, Eynolla waited until they left the friend’s house, and then said to Mullah, “Why did you comment about the turban that I am wearing being yours? Don’t do that during our next visit.”

When they made their next visit, this time Mullah said, “This is my friend Eynolla—and the turban he’s wearing is his, not mine.” As they left, Eynolla once again expressed his annoyance, exclaiming, “Why did you go to such lengths to say that the turban was mine and not yours. Don’t do it on our next visit.”

When they made the next visit, Mullah said, “This is my friend Eynolla…and I have nothing to say about whether the turban he is wearing is his or mine!

தலைப்பாக என்னுடையது

நண்பர்கள் நிச்சயமாக அன்பாகவும், தேவைப்படும் நேரங்களில் உதவியாகவும் இருப்பார்கள். அதே நாண்பர்கள் வேண்டுமென்றோ அல்லது தற்செயலாகவோ சில சமயங்களில் நம்மை நெருக்கடியான நிலைக்குத் தள்ளி விடுவார்கள்.

முல்லா நஸ்ருதீனின் பழைய நண்பன் எய்னோலா ஒரு நாள் தொலைதூர கிராமத்திலிருந்து அவரைப் பார்க்க வந்தார். நான் உன்னை ஒரு சிலருக்கு அறிமுகப்படுத்த விரும்புகிறேன் என்று முல்லா ஐனோலாவிடம் கூறினார். சரி ஆனால் தயவுசெய்து எனக்கு ஒரு தலைப்பாகை கொடு, ஏனென்றால் நான் சரியாக உடை அணியவில்லை என்றார் முல்லாவின் நண்பர். எனவே முல்லா அவருக்கு தலைப்பாகை கடன் கொடுத்தார்.

இருவரும் சென்று முல்லாவின் நண்பர் ஒருவரைச் சந்தித்தனர். இது என் நண்பன் எய்னோல்லா ஆனால் அவன் அணிந்திருக்கும் தலைப்பாகை என்னுடையது என்றார் முல்லா. இப்படியொரு அறிமுகத்தால் மிகவும் கோபமடைந்த எய்னோலா நண்பரின் வீட்டை விட்டு வெளியேறும் வரை காத்திருந்தார். பின்னர் முல்லாவிடம், நான் அணிந்திருக்கும் தலைப்பாகை உன்னுடையது என்று நீ ஏன் சொன்னாய்? அடுத்ததாக செல்லும் இடத்தில் அப்படிச் செல்லாதே முல்லா என்று கடிந்து கொண்டார்.

அடுத்த நண்பர் வீட்டை சென்றடைந்ததும் இது என் நண்பன் எய்னோலா, அவன் அணிந்திருக்கும் தலைப்பாகை அவனுடையது, என்னுடையது அல்ல என்றார் முல்லா. அவர்கள் வெளியே வந்ததும், எய்னோல்லா மீண்டும் தனது எரிச்சலை வெளிப்படுத்தினார். தலைப்பாகை என்னுடையது, உன்னுடையது அல்ல என்று ஏன் இவ்வளவு நீட்டி சொல்லித்தான் ஆகணுமா? நாம் அடுத்து செல்லும் இடத்தில் அதைச் செய்யாதே என்று கடுகடுக்கக் கூறினார்.

மேலுமொரு நண்பர் வீட்டுக்குச் சென்றதும் இது என் நண்பன் எய்னோல்லா... மற்றபடி அவன் அணிந்திருக்கும் தலைப்பாகை அவனுடையதா அல்லது என்னுடையதா என்பதைப் பற்றி நான் எதுவும் சொல்ல முடியாது என்றார் முல்லா.
