SHOCK TREATMENT

Though King Krishnadev Raya was fond of Tenali Raman he often got infuriated with Tenali Raman for taking law into his hands without reporting most of the matters to the king. So Krishnadev Raya wanted to scare Tenali Raman a little. He ordered his guards to execute Tenali Raman. But he instructed the guards to take Tenali Raman to a distant place and leave him there, buried in the ground till his neck, leave his head above the ground unburied and also to inform Tenali Raman that if he manages to swap somebody else in his place by tomorrow he could escape the punishment.

He anticipated that Tenali Raman will survive somehow and return the next day to the court. The guards took Tenali Raman to some wilderness and buried him in the ground till his neck. After some time the guards had left,a humped washerman passed by Tenali Raman. Looking at the Washerman, Tenali Raman understood that the man is suffering from hump problem. Tenali Raman thought of an idea immediately to come out of the ground and replace him in his position.

Tenali Raman convinced the washerman that he too had the same problem and as a treatment he buried himself to straighten his back, he is thus practising a proven remedy to fix hump. The washerman could witness how successful the treatment is if he pulls out Tenali Raman from the ground. The washerman, optimistic of getting rid of his old problem, dug Tenali Raman out, seeing his back straight, trusting Tenali Raman, got himself buried till neck. Clever Tenali Raman once gain proved his wit and saved his own life. And later apologized to the washerman and pulled him out of the ground.

மன்னர் கிருஷ்ணதேவ ராயருக்குதெனாலி ராமன் மீது மிகுந்த பிரியம்.இருந்தாலும் தன்னிடம் அனுமதி கோராமல்தெனாலி ராமன் தானாக அடிக்கடி சட்டத்தை கையில் எடுத்துக் கொண்டு செயல்படுவதாக அவர் மீது கோபம் கொண்டார் மன்னர். ஆகவே, தெனாலியைக் கொஞ்சம்பயமுறுத்த நினைத்தார் மன்னர்.

தெனாலிக்கு மரண தண்டனை நிறைவேற்றுமாறுதனது காவலர்களுக்கு உத்தரவிட்டார். மறுபுறம், தொலைதூர இடத்திற்கு தெனாலியைஅழைத்துச் சென்று அங்கேயே விட்டுவிட்டு, கழுத்துவரை மண்ணில் புதைத்து,தலை மட்டுமே தரையில் புதைக்கப்படாமல் விட்டுவிடச் சொன்னார்.

தனது இடத்தில் வேறு யாரையாவது தென்னாலி ராமனால்மாற்ற முடிந்தால் நாளை அவர் தண்டனையிலிருந்து தப்பிக்கலாம் என்று தெனாலிராமனுக்கு தெரிவிக்கவும் அறிவுறுத்தினார். தெனாலி ராமன் எப்படியாவது பிழைத்து,மறுநாள் நீதிமன்றத்திற்குத் திரும்புவார் என்றே மன்னர் எதிர்பார்த்தார்.

காவலர்கள் தெனாலி ராமனை வனாந்தரத்திற்கு அழைத்துச் சென்று கழுத்துவரை மண்ணில் புதைத்தனர். சிறிது நேரம் கழித்து, காவலர்கள் வெளியேறினர், ஒரு சலவை தொழிலாளி தெனாலியைக் கடந்து சென்றார். அவரைப் பார்த்த தெனாலிக்கு புரிந்தது, அந்த மனிதன் கூன் விழுந்த முதுகு பிரச்சினையால் அவதிப்படுகிறார் என்று. தெனாலி ராமன் உடனடியாக மைதானத்தை விட்டு வெளியே வந்து தான் சிக்குண்டிருக்கும் இடத்துக்கு அவரைமாற்ற ஒரு திட்டமிட்டார்.

தனக்கும் இதேபோன்று கூன் பிரச்சினை இருப்பதாக சலவைதொழிலாளியை நம்பவைத்தார் தெனாலி ராமன். மேலும் தனது முதுகு நிமிரவே தன்னை தானே புதைத்துக் கொள்ளும் சிகிச்சையை மேற்கொள்வதாகச் சொன்னார். புதைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும் மண்ணில் இருந்து தன்னை வெளியேற்றினால், சிகிச்சை எவ்வளவு வெற்றிகரமாக இருக்கிறது என்பதை சலவைத் தொழிலாளி கண்கூடாக பார்க்க முடியும் என்றார்.

தனது நாள்பட்ட பிரச்சினையில் இருந்து விடுபட வேண்டும் என்ற ஏக்கத்தில் சலவைதொழிலாளி, தெனாலி ராமனை தோண்டிவெளியே கொண்டு வந்தார். தெனாலி ராமனின் நேர் முதுகை பார்த்து நம்பி, சலவை தொழிலாளி கழுத்து வரை புதைந்தார். விவரமான தெனாலி ராமன் மீண்டும் தனது புத்திசாலித்தனத்தை நிரூபித்து உயிரைக் காப்பாற்றிக் கொண்டார். பிறகு சலவை தொழிலாளியிடம் மன்னிப்பு கேட்டு அவரையும் மண்ணிலிருந்து வெளியே கொண்டு வந்தார்.
