The Thieving Partners
There were many rich merchants living in Akbar's kingdom. Mobi was one such rich businessman living in Delhi. Two thieves disguised as business merchants once came to meet him. They pretended to be from China and requested the innocent rich man to help them to sell some of their jewels in Delhi. As an honest man, he requested the thieves in disguise to hand it to him and that he would look into their request. The criminals insisted that if he is unable to sell for good price he can return the jewels to them, but the merchant should not handover the jewels unless they come together. The man should not deliver the jewels to one lone person under any circumstances.
A few hours later, one of them returned and asked for the jewels as they have changed their mind about selling the jewels. When the merchant reminded him about coming together to receive the jewels, he showed the other merchant standing in the road talking to few people. Convinced, the businessman handed him the jewels back. After sometime, the other thief also returned and asked for the jewels. When informed that his partner has already taken them away, the thief became enraged and started yelling. He threatened and instructed the businessman to get his jewels or to return the worth as gold coins.
The case went to Badshah Akbar’s court, where Birbal heard the entire narrative. He then instructed the second thief to bring along with him his other partner according to their demand while handing over the jewels to the merchant when they first met him. The second thief was astounded. Unable to reply he attempted to flee from the court. Akbar ordered to catch both the thieves and imprison them.
திருட்டு கூட்டாளிகள்
அக்பரின் ராஜ்ஜியத்தில் பல பணக்கார வணிகர்கள் வாழ்ந்து வந்தனர். டெல்லியில் வசிக்கும் ஒரு பணக்கார தொழிலதிபர் மோபி. ஒருமுறை வணிக வியாபாரிகள் போல் மாறுவேடமிட்டு இரண்டு திருடர்கள் அவரைச் சந்திக்க வந்தனர். அவர்கள் சீனாவை சேர்ந்தவர்கள் போல் நடித்து, டெல்லியில் தங்களுடைய சில நகைகளை விற்க உதவுமாறு அப்பாவி பணக்காரரிடம் கோரிக்கை விடுத்தனர்.
மோபி நேர்மையானவர் என்பதால் உத்தமர்கள் போல் நடித்த திருடர்கள் கொண்டுவந்த நகைகளை தன்னிடம் ஒப்படைக்குமாறும், அவர்களின் கோரிக்கையை பரிசீலிப்பதாகவும் கூறினார். நல்ல விலைக்கு விற்க முடியாவிட்டால் நகைகளை அவர்களிடமே திருப்பிக் கொடுக்கலாம் என்றும், வியாபாரிகள், தாங்கள் ஒன்று சேர்ந்து வராவிட்டால் நகைகளை ஒப்படைக்கக் கூடாது என்றும் அந்த குற்றவாளிகள் வலியுறுத்தினர். எந்த சூழ்நிலையிலும் தனி ஒருவரிடம் அந்த நகைகளை ஒப்படைத்துவிடக்கூடாது என்பதை அவர்கள் மீண்டும் வலியுறுத்தினர்.
சில மணி நேரம் கழித்து, அவர்களில் ஒருவன் திரும்பி வந்து நகைகளை விற்கும் எண்ணத்தை மாற்றிக்கொண்டதாகச் சொல்லி நகைகளை கேட்டான். நகைகளைப் பெறுவதற்கு ஒன்றாக வருவதைப் பற்றி வணிகர் அவனுக்கு நினைவூட்டியபோது, மற்றொரு வியாபாரி சாலையில் நின்று சிலருடன் பேசுவதைக் காட்டினான்.
அதை நம்பிய தொழிலதிபர் அவனிடம் நகைகளை திருப்பி கொடுத்தார். சிறிது நேரம் கழித்து, மற்றொரு திருடன் திரும்பி வந்து நகைகளைக் கேட்டான்.
கூட்டாளி ஏற்கனவே அவற்றை பெற்று சென்றதாக தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டதும், திருடன் ஆத்திரமடைந்து கத்த ஆரம்பித்தான். தொழிலதிபரை மிரட்டி, நகைகளை வாங்கித் தர வேண்டும் இல்லையேல் நகைகளுக்கு இணையான தங்க நாணயங்கள் திருப்பித் தர வேண்டுமென வற்புறுத்தினான்.
இந்த வழக்கு பாட்ஷா அக்பரின் நீதிமன்றத்திற்குச் சென்றது. அங்குபீர்பால் முழு விவரத்தையும் கேட்டறிந்தார். பின்னர் அவர் இரண்டாவது திருடனை, வணிகரிடம் முதலில் சந்தித்து நகைகளை ஒப்படைக்கும் போது அவர்களின் கோரிக்கைக்கு ஏற்ப தனது மற்ற கூட்டாளியை தன்னுடன் அழைத்து வருமாறு அறிவுறுத்தினார்.
இரண்டாவது திருடன் திகைத்தான். பதில் சொல்ல முடியாமல் நீதிமன்றத்தை விட்டு தப்பி ஓட முயன்றான். இரண்டு திருடர்களையும் பிடித்து வந்து சிறையிலடைக்கும்படி அக்பர் கட்டளையிட்டார்.
