A few days later a very melodious singer came to the court to perform his art. After getting the permission of the king, he started singing. His voice and tone were very sweet. That day he sang more than one song in the court and enthralled the entire court. When he finished singing, Tenali Raman said to the singer, “Your voice is very sweet and I have never heard such songs in my life. You must get 15 thousand gold coins for this talent."
After listening to Tenali Raman, Maharaj said, "your art is really wonderful, but our treasury does not have that much money for a singer, so now you can go." The singer got very disappointed after listening to the king and started leaving after collecting his musical instruments. Tenali Raman felt very sorry for the condition of that talented singer. He gave a bundle to that singer in front of the full court. Seeing this, the courtiers started protesting. Everyone said in one voice that when the king did not give anything to the singer, then who is Tenali Raman to distribute charity? The king also got very angry at this act of Tenali Raman. He ordered the servants to snatch that bundle from the singer and bring it to him.
The servants came to the king with the bundle. When the king opened that bundle, there was an earthen pot in it. Seeing the earthen pot, the king asked Tenali Raman, "why do you want to give this pot to the singer". Tenali Raman said, “Maharaj, this poor singer could not get the reward, but at least he will not leave this court empty-handed. He will take this earthen pot full of praise and accolades".
Hearing this answer from Tenali Raman, the king came to know about his generosity and truthfulness. His anger disappeared and the king rewarded the singer with 15,000 gold coins. In this way, Tenali Raman regained the trust of the king on the strength of his understanding and honesty. On the other hand, Tenali Raman's opponents kept watching with humiliation. மன்னரின் நம்பிக்கையை தெனாலி ராமனால் பெற முடிந்ததா?

தெனாலி ராமன் கூறியதை கேட்டுக் கொண்டிருந்தார் அரசர். பிறகு பாடகரிடம், "உங்கள் கலை உண்மையிலேயே அற்புதம், ஆனால் எங்கள் கருவூலத்தில் ஒரு பாடகருக்கு அள்ளித்தருகிற அளவுக்கு பணம் இல்லை, எனவே நீங்கள் இப்போது செல்லலாம்" என்று கூறினார். மன்னரின் பேச்சைக் கேட்டு மிகவும் ஏமாற்றமடைந்த பாடகர், தனது இசைக்கருவிகளை சேகரித்துக் கொண்டு அரசவையை விட்டு வெளியேற முற்பட்டார். திறமையான பாடகரின் நிலையை நினைத்து தெனாலி ராமன் மிகவும் வருந்தினார்.
