The Pious Guru

Akbar’s guru paid him a visit from Mecca for a few days. This incident aroused the idea of interest in Akbar to find out the details of Birbal’s guru who has tutored such a wise person. So when he questioned Birbal about his master’s whereabouts, Birbal informed him that his guru always remained silent and never goes out. Akbar was adamant and insisted Birbal to make arrangements for Akbar and Birbal guru's meeting.

On the way back, Birbal saw a humble woodcutter and was somehow pleased by him. Birbal converted his attire to that of a Saint and made him sit on the pedestal of a big temple. He strongly directed him to remain silent under all circumstances. When Birbal brought Akbar to meet the monk, Akbar decided to test the monk and lure him with gold.

But following Birbal’s directions, the monk paid no heed to Akbar’s repeated offers and continued to meditate. Angrily Akbar left the monk alone thinking the woodcutter in disguise to be holy saint of much piety.

பக்திமான் குரு

மக்காவில் இருந்து வந்த அக்பரின் குரு சில நாட்கள் அவரை சந்தித்துப் பேசினார். இந்நிகழ்வானது புத்திசாலியான பீர்பாலை பயிற்றுவித்த அவருடைய குருவை சந்திக்கும் ஆவலை அக்பருக்குள் தூண்டியது. எனவே அவர் பீர்பாலிடம் அவரது குருவின் இருப்பிடம் குறித்து விசாரித்தார்.

அதற்கு பீர்பால் தனது குரு எப்போதும் அமைதியாக இருப்பார் என்றும் வெளியே செல்வதில்லை என்றும் கூறினார். அக்பர் பிடிவாதமாக பீர்பாலின் குருவும் தானும் சந்திப்பதற்கு ஏற்பாடு செய்யும்படி வற்புறுத்தினார்.திரும்பி வரும் வழியில், பீர்பால் ஒரு ஏழ்மையான விறகுவெட்டியைக் கண்டு எதனாலோ மகிழ்ச்சியடைந்தார். அந்த விறகுவெட்டியின் ஆடைகளை மாற்றி அவரை ஒரு துறவி போல மாற்றினார்.

மேலும் அவரை ஒரு பெரிய கோயிலின் பீடத்தில் அமரச் செய்தார். எந்த சந்தர்ப்பத்திலும் அந்த மனிதர் மௌனமாகவே இருக்க வேண்டும் என்று வலியுறுத்தி அவரை வழிநடத்தினார்.

பிறகு துறவியைச் சந்திக்க அக்பரை அழைத்து வந்தார் பீர்பால். அப்போது தங்கத்தின் மூலம் துறவிக்கு ஆசைகாட்ட அக்பர் முடிவு செய்தார்.

ஆனால், பீர்பாலின் அறிவுறுத்தலை பின்பற்றி, அக்பர் தொடர்ச்சியாக அறிவித்த சலுகைகளுக்குத் துறவி செவிசாய்க்கவில்லை. இடைவிடாது தியானத்தில் ஈடுபட்டிருந்தார். கோபத்துடன் அக்பர், மாறுவேடத்தில் இருந்த விறகு வெட்டியை மிகவும் பக்திமயமான துறவி என்று எண்ணி அவரை தனியே விட்டு அகன்றார்.
