Tenali Raman’s Non-Vegetarian Horse!

A horse is a vegetarian animal. But sometimes it has to be turned into a non-vegetarian also when it matters. Here is the story of how Tenali Raman turned his horse to a non-vegetarian. It was an evening on a rainy day. Tenali Raman did not expect rain on that day. He set out riding the horse.

After sometime, it began to rain. He did not return but continued his journey. Rain continued on unabated. Tenali Raman travelled further. He was drenched in rain water. When he started shivering Tenali Raman entered a nearby shop. The horse was kept halt in front of the shop. Meet cutlet was sold at the shop. He was shivering with cold. Some kind of heat will cease the shivering. But people seemed surrounding the stove.

Tenali Raman was in a fix. "My horse is hungry and wants four meat cutlets", Tenali Raman told the shopkeeper. But people wondered,"will the horse eat meat cutlet? I want to see the horse",one man said and walked outside the shop to see the horse. Everybody followed the man, they all went out to look at the strange horse.

Tenali Raman in the meantime sat near the stove and dried his dresses. The shivering and chillness of the body also disappeared. The rain also receded. Tenali Raman bought cutlet and went outside, he showed cutlet to the horse but the horse did not pay any attention. Tenali Raman gave the cutlets to a dog standing near by. He rode on the horse and the people curiously looked at Tenali Raman and not at the horse.

தெனாலி ராமனின் அசைவ குதிரை!

குதிரை ஒரு சைவ விலங்கு. ஆனால், சில சமயங்களில் அதைஅசைவமாகவும் மாற்ற வேண்டியிருக்கும். தெனாலி ராமன் தனது குதிரையை அசைவத்திற்கு மாற்றிய கதை இங்கே. அது ஒரு மழை நாளின் மாலை நேரம். தெனாலி ராமன் அன்று மழையை எதிர்பார்க்கவில்லை. அவர் குதிரையில் ஏறி சவாரி செய்ய புறப்பட்டுவிட்டார். சிறிது நேரத்தில் மழை பெய்யத் தொடங்கியது. அவர் திரும்பி வராமல் தனது பயணத்தைத் தொடர்ந்தார். மழை இடைவிடாமல் தொடர்ந்து பெய்து கொண்டிருந்தது. தெனாலி ராமன் மேலும் பயணம் செய்தார்.

மழை நீரில் அவர் தொப்பலாக நனைந்து போனார். நடுநடுங்க ஆரம்பித்ததும் அருகில் இருந்த கடைக்குள் தெனாலி ராமன் நுழைந்தார். அந்தக்குதிரை கடையின் முன்பு நிறுத்தப்பட்டது. கடையில் மாமிச கட்லெட் விற்கப்பட்டது. தெனாலி ராமன் குளிரால் நடுங்கிக் கொண்டிருந்தார். ஒருவித வெப்பம் நடுக்கத்தை நிறுத்தும். ஆனால், கடைக்கு வந்திருந்த மக்கள் அடுப்பைச் சூழ்ந்தபடி இருந்தனர்.

தெனாலி ராமன் சிக்கலில் இருந்தார். "என் குதிரைக்கு பசிக்கிறது, நான்கு இறைச்சி கட்லெட்டுகள் வேண்டும்" என்று தெனாலி ராமன் கடைக்காரரிடம் சொன்னார். இதை கேட்டு அங்குக் கூடியிருந்தவர்கள் ஆச்சரியப்பட்டனர். "குதிரை இறைச்சி கட்லெட் சாப்பிடுமா? நான் குதிரையைப் பார்க்க விரும்புகிறேன்" என்று ஒருவர் குதிரையைப் பார்க்க கடைக்கு வெளியே நடந்தார். எல்லோரும் அந்தநபரை பின்தொடர்ந்தனர். அவர்கள் அனைவரும் விசித்திரமான குதிரையைப் பார்க்க வெளியே சென்றனர்.

அதற்குள் தெனாலி ராமன் அடுப்புக்கு அருகில் அமர்ந்து ஆடைகளை உலர்த்தினார். உடலின் சிலிர்ப்பும் மறைந்தது. மழையும் குறைந்துவிட்டது. தெனாலி ராமன் கட்லெட்டை வாங்கிக் கொண்டு வெளியே சென்றார். குதிரைக்கு கட்லெட்டைக் காட்டினார். ஆனால், குதிரை அதை சட்டை செய்யவில்லை. கட்லெட்டை அருகில் நின்ற நாய்க்கு தெனாலி ராமன் கொடுத்தார். அவர் குதிரையில் ஏறினார், மக்கள் ஆர்வத்துடன் குதிரையை அல்ல தெனாலி ராமனைப் பார்த்தார்கள். - கட்டுரையாளர்: ஆங்கிலத் துறை முன்னாள் உதவிப் பேராசிரியர்
