இனியன்: இப்போ பாருங்களேன். நாம இங்க ஒரு மணி நேரமா பேசிட்டு இருக்கிறோம். ஒரு மணி நேரம் ன்னு நமக்கு எப்படி தெரிஞ்சது?
உமையாள்: What time did we come to school?
மித்ரன்: 8am.
உமையாள்: What is the time now?
மித்ரன்: 9am.
உமையாள்: What is the time difference between these two times?
மித்ரன்: 1 hour.
உமையாள்: This is the time length.
இசை: நாம 8 மணிக்கு வந்தோம். இப்போது 9 ஆகுது. இரண்டுக்கும் இடைப்பட்ட நேரம் தான், ஒரு மணி நேரம். அதற்கு பெயர் தான் time length.
இனியன்: We have been talking here for 1 hour. (இங்கு 1 மணி நேரம் பேசிக் கொண்டிருக்கிறோம்.)
இசை: When did you join this school? (இந்த school லில் நீ எந்த வருடம் சேர்ந்தாய்?)
மித்ரன்: 2018.
இசை: What is the current year? (இப்போது என்ன வருடம் ஆகிறது?)
மித்ரன்: 2022.
இசை: Then, how many years have you been studying here? (அப்படியெனில் மொத்தம் எத்தனை வருடம் இந்த school ல் படித்துக்கொண்டு இருக்கிறாய்?)
மித்ரன்: 4 years.
இசை: இதற்கு பெயரும் time length.
இனியன்: Seconds, minutes, hours, days, months, years ன்னு எல்லாத்துக்கும் time period உண்டு.
உமையாள்: Everyone understood right? Can we practice now?
இனியன்: I did my homework for 2 hours yesterday. (நேற்று 2 மணி நேரம் எனது வீட்டுப்பாடங்களை செய்தேன்.)
மித்ரன்: I have been walking for 2 hours. (நான் 2 மணி நேரம் நடந்து வருகிறேன்.)
உமையாள்: I have been reading the newspaper for 4 years. (நான் 4 வருடங்களாக செய்தித்தாள் படித்து வருகிறேன்.)
இனியன்: I slept for 6 hours. (நான் 6 மணி நேரம் தூங்கினேன்.)
இசை: I have been studying here for 4 years. (நான் இங்கு 4 வருடங்களாக படித்து வருகிறேன்.)
இனியன்: I waited here for 5 minutes. (நான் இங்கே 5 நிமிடங்கள் காத்திருந்தேன்.)
மித்ரன்: I was in Chennai for 4 years. (நான் 4 வருடங்கள் சென்னையில் இருந்தேன்.)
