Akbar Fires Birbal
The popular notion in Akbar's court was that Akbar was very fond of Birbal and considered him to be one of his dear friends. One day Akbar got frustrated with him and Birbal, ignorant of Akbar’s mood, kept on cracking jokes to amuse the King.
Suddenly Akbar in a fit of irritable mood burst out in anger and dismissed Birbal from his court duties and asked him never to return. Birbal left in peace thinking that once Akbar’s temper cools down, he will be summoned back to the court.
Days passed by but no one from the court arrived to fetch him. Akbar tried to replace Birbal with a new minister. Hence he announced that whoever answers his questions appropriately will be appointed in Birbal's position in his court.
On the day of selection, other ministers in Akbar’s court raised critical questions to the interviewees such as, “How many shells are there in the seabed?” Some aspirants answered lakhs while others said crores. But one man named Snehan gave a different reply such as, “The count of total human eyes in the world is equal to the number of shells in the seabed”.
Next question was what is the biggest weapon and Snehan said," It is intelligence". More similar questions followed and Snehan impressed everyone with his knowledge and witt. Akbar had already guessed unboubtedly from the answers that it was only Birbal who was in the attire of Snehan. Akbar was happy to take him back in his court and Birbal also happily revealed his true identity.
அக்பர் பீர்பாலை நீக்குகிறார்!
அக்பர் பீர்பால் மீது மிகுந்த அன்பு கொண்டவர், பீர்பால் அவருக்கு நெருங்கிய நண்பர் என்பது அக்பரின் அரசவையில் அனைவரும் அறிந்த உண்மை. ஆனால், ஒரு நாள் பீர்பால் குறித்து அக்பர் விரக்தி அடைந்திருந்தார். அக்பரின் மனநிலையை அறியாமல் பீர்பால் அவரை குதூகலப்படுத்த தொடர்ந்து கேலி கிண்டலாகப் பேசிக் கொண்டிருந்தார்.
ஒரு விதமான எரிச்சலடைந்த மனநிலையில், திடீரென்று அக்பர் கோபத்தில் வெடித்து பீர்பாலை அரசவை பணிகளில் இருந்து நீக்கினார். திரும்பி வரவேண்டாம் என்றும் கட்டளையிட்டார். அக்பரின் கோபம் தணிந்தவுடன் தாம் மீண்டும் அரசவைக்கு வரவழைக்கப்படுவோம் என்ற நம்பிக்கையில் பீர்பால் அமைதியாக வெளியேறினார்.
நாட்கள் கடந்தும் பீர்பாலை அழைத்து செல்ல அரசவையில் இருந்து யாரும் வரவில்லை. அக்பர் பீர்பாலுக்குப் பதிலாக ஒரு புதிய அமைச்சரை நியமிக்க முடிவெடுத்தார். தனது கேள்விகளுக்கு யார் தக்க பதிலளிக்கிறாரோ, தனது அரசவையில் பீர்பாலின் இடத்தில் அவர் நியமிக்கப்படுவார் என்று அக்பர் அறிவித்தார்.
முடிவு செய்யப்பட்ட நேர்முக நாளன்று அக்பரின் அரசவையில் இருந்த மற்ற மந்திரிகள் தேர்வுக்கு வந்தவர்களிடம் கேள்விகள் எழுப்பினர். "கடலில் எத்தனை கிளிஞ்சல்கள் உள்ளன?" போன்ற இக்கட்டான கேள்விகளை நேர்காணலுக்கு வந்தவர்களை நோக்கி தொடுத்தனர். சிலர், லட்சக்கணக்கில் என்று பதிலளித்தனர்.
மற்றவர்கள், கோடிக்கணக்கில் என்றனர். ஆனால், சிநேகன் என்பவர் இவ்வாறு பதிலளித்தார், "உலகில் உள்ள மொத்த மனிதக் கண்களின் எண்ணிக்கை, கடல் பரப்பில் உள்ள கிளிஞ்சில்களுக்குச் சமம்” என்றார். அடுத்த கேள்வி, “மிகப்பெரிய ஆயுதம் எது?” அதற்கு சிநேகன், “அறிவுதான்” என்றார்.
மேலும் தொடுக்கப்பட்ட கேள்விகளுக்கெல்லாம் சிநேகன் தனது ஞானத்தினாலும் புத்திக்கூர்மையாலும் அனைவரையும் கவர்ந்துவிட்டார். சிநேகன் என்கிற ரூபத்தில் வந்திருப்பது பீர்பால்தான் என்பதை சொல்லப்பட்ட பதில்களில் இருந்து அக்பர் முன்கூட்டியே கண்டுகொண்டார். மகிழ்ச்சி பொங்க மீண்டும் பீர்பாலை அரசவைக்கு அக்பர் அழைத்துக் கொண்டார். பீர்பாலும் தனது உண்மையான அடையாளத்தை மகிழ்ச்சியோடு வெளிப்படுத்தினார்.
