Turning author a childhood dream, feel amazing: Rachel Goenka

Fascination for Indian sweets and a desire to represent their versatility led Rachel Goenka to write her debut book "Adventures with Mithai".

The book features 50 original classic Indian sweet recipes with a modern twist. It has desserts including a chocolate barfi-flavoured cheesecake to a dark chocolate mousse with
black rice pudding. "It's absolutely exhilarating,amazing to be an author. It's something I dreamt about doing since I was 10 years old," Goenka told PTI at the launch of her book.

Founder-CEO of The Chocolate Spoon Company, Goenka attended The Ballymaloe Cookery School in Ireland and specialised in patisserie at Le Cordon Bleu, London.

"It's a book that hasn't been done before globally, a desert book like this, so I'm really proud I could contribute in someway to hopefully making India proud.

I took two months to put the book together, but I've been working on the concept for seven years. I had a series of sleepless nights because sometimes ideas would come to me suddenly in the middle of the night.
I want to thank my editor, photographer and food stylist, without whom the book wouldn't look the way it did," she said, adding that she was now planning to write more.-PTI

இந்தியாவின் 50 பாரம்பரிய இனிப்பு வகைகளை, நவீனமாற்றத்துடன் பட்டியலிட்டு, வெளிவந்துள்ளது “அட்வென்சர்ஸ் ஆப் மிட்டாய்” என்ற புத்தகம். ரச்சல் கோயங்கா என்பவர் எழுதியிருக்கும் முதல் புத்தகம் இது. இந்திய இனிப்பு வகைகள் மீதான ஈர்ப்பும் வகைவகையான இனிப்புகளை பற்றி எழுத வேண்டும் என்ற பேரார்வமும்தான் இந்தப் புத்தகம் வெளிவர காரணம்.

சாக்லேட் பர்ஃபி, சீஸ் கேக், வெளிப்புறம் கருப்பு அரிசி பரப்பி தயாரிக்கப்பட்ட சாக்லேட் மவுஸ் உள்ளிட்ட விதவிதமான இனிப்பு வகைகளைக் குறித்த சுவாரஸ்யமான தகவல்கள் இந்த புத்தகத்தில், இடம்பெற்றுள்ளன.

சாக்லேட் ஸ்பூன் கம்பெனியின் நிறுவனரும், தலைமை செயல் அதிகாரியுமான ரச்சல் கோயங்கா இந்தியாவைச் சேர்ந்தவர். அயர்லாந்து மற்றும் இங்கிலாந்தில், மேற்படிப்பை முடித்தவர்.

பல்வேறு சிறப்பு அம்சங்களுடன் வெளிவந்துள்ள இந்தப்புத்தகத்தின் ஆசிரியர் நான் என்பது, எனக்கு வியப்பளிப்பதுடன், எழுத்தாளர் ஆக வேண்டும் என்று 10 வயதில் இருந்து நான் கண்ட கனவு தற்போது நனவாகியிருக்கிறது என்பதே உண்மை.

இதுபோன்ற ஒரு புத்தகம் இதற்கு முன்பு உலகளவில் எழுதப்படவில்லை. இந்தியா பெருமை அடையும் விதமாக இத்தகைய பங்களிப்பை நான் செய்ய முடிந்ததை நினைத்துப் பெருமைப்படுகிறேன். இந்த புத்தகத்தை இரண்டு மாதங்களில் தயாரித்தேன்.
ஆனால், இதற்காக நான் ஏறத்தாழ 7 வருடங்கள் உழைத்திருக்கிறேன். ஏனெனில் சில இனிப்பு வகைகள் பற்றிய பிரத்யேக குறிப்புகள், இரவில் தூங்கிக்கொண்டிருந்தபோது, எனக்கு தோன்றின. அதனால், இந்த புத்தகம் எனக்கு பல தூங்காத இரவுகளைப் பரிசளித்திருக்கிறது.

தலைசிறந்த படைப்பாக என்னுடைய புத்தகம் வெளிவர உறுதுணையாக இருந்த ஆசிரியர், புகைப்படக் கலைஞர், உணவுக்கலை நிபுணர் ஆகியோருக்கு நன்றி தெரிவித்துக்கொள்கிறேன். மேலும் புதிய படைப்புகளை வெளியிடத் திட்டமிட்டுள்ளேன்.- பிடிஐ
