l வெகு சில பேர், இவரைப் போன்று இருக்கின்றனர். வெகு சில பொருட்கள், இதனைப் போன்று இருக்கிறது, என்று சொல்கிறோம் அல்லவா. அது positive degree அதற்கு Very few பயன் படுத்த வேண்டும்.
l பலபேரை விட இவர் சிறந்தவர், பலவற்றை விட இது சிறந்தது என்று சொல்வது comparative degree. இதற்கு than many (or) most other பயன்படுத்த வேண்டும்.
l மிகவும் சிறந்தவர்களில் இவரும் ஒருவர், மிகவும் சிறந்தவற்றில் இதுவும் ஓன்று என்று சொல்வது superlative degree . இதற்கு one of the + most (or) the...est பயன்படுத்த வேண்டும்.
