Mulla goes for excursion after losing election
Mullah Nasruddin put himself in the race for the hotly contested post of town mayor. After making a rousing speech at a rally, he asked the crowd if they had any questions.
“I have one question for you, sir,” said a man. “Do you drink alcohol?”
“That depends,” replied the mullah, “on whether my answer leads to disqualification or an invitation...”
On the day of the election, Nasruddin was bitterly disappointed to learn that his opponent had won the post by a small margin.
“I am a victim,” he complained to his friends, “a hapless victim.”
“A victim?” a friend asked. “Of what?”
“A victim of accurate counting.”
Taking a break from the excitement of the mayoral race, Mulla went on a short excursion. Two of his friends also joined him. Nasruddin and two other travellers stopped to eat the lunch each of them had packed for their journey. One of the travellers bragged, “I only eat roasted salted pistachios, cashews, and dates.” The other said, “Well, I only eat dried salmon.” Then both men looked at Nasruddin, waiting to hear what he would say. Seconds later, Nasruddin held up a piece of bread and confidently announced, “Well, I only eat wheat, ground up and carefully mixed with water, yeast, and salt, and then baked at the proper temperature for the proper time.”

தேர்தல் அன்று, தன்னை எதிர்த்துப் போட்டியிட்டவர் சிறிய வாக்கு வித்தியாசத்தில் வெற்றி பெற்றதை அறிந்த நஸ்ருதீன் கடும் ஏமாற்றமடைந்தார்.

இந்த மேயர் பதவிக்கான போட்டியின் பரபரப்பிலிருந்து விடுபட்டு குட்டி உல்லாச பயணம் மேற்கொண்டார் முல்லா. அவருடன் இன்னும் இரண்டு நண்பர்கள் இணைந்து கொண்டனர். முல்லா நஸ்ருதீனும் மற்ற இரண்டு பயணிகளும் ஒவ்வொருவரும் தங்கள் சுற்றுலா பயணத்திற்காக கட்டி வைத்திருந்த மதிய உணவை சாப்பிட முற்பட்டார்கள்.
