The Neighbouring King
Tenali Raman had special respect in the court of Raja Krishnadevaraya. Therefore, there was no shortage in the palace of those who envied him. Once upon a time, the condition of Vijayanagara kingdom was not good. The state was under threat of attack from the neighbouring country. At that time a courtier thought that this was the best opportunity to instigate the Maharaja against Tenali Raman.
One day, Maharaja Krishnadevaraya was thinking about something sitting in his garden when a crooked courtier reached there. He told the king “if you do not get angry, then I want to tell you one thing.” The king said, “speak fearlessly”. The courtier said, “you do not know, but Tenali Raman is associated with the neighbouring state. From time to time, he keeps on giving secret messages of the royal court to the king of the neighbouring country.”
On hearing this, Maharaj became furious with anger and said, "Fool! You should be ashamed while talking like this about Tenali Raman. He is the most loyal citizen of Vijayanagara and also a patriot." To this the courtier said, "It is a lie, sir, he has blindfolded you. So, you don't see any of his gimmicks, but I have got the confirmed news." On being told with such confidence by the courtier, the king also started doubting Tenali Raman a little bit.
The king immediately called Tenali Raman to his court and asked him, “Are you a spy of the neighbouring country. Tenali Raman did not expect this question from the Maharaja. Tenali Raman could not answer it and started crying. The king said, "Your silence means that what we heard is true." Tenali Raman said, “Your Majesty, what can I say to you? You know me very well, so you can take whatever decision you want." On hearing this, Maharaja Krishnadev became angry and said, "Go, stay with the king whom you flatter. You will have to leave the Vijayanagara kingdom."

அண்டை நாட்டு அரசன்
மன்னர் கிருஷ்ணதேவராயரின் அவையில் தெனாலி ராமனுக்கு தனி மரியாதை இருந்தது. எனவே, அவர் மேல் பொறாமை கொண்டவர்களுக்கு அரண்மனையில் குறைவில்லை. ஒரு காலத்தில் விஜயநகர சாம்ராஜ்யத்தின் நிலை நன்றாக இல்லை. அண்டை நாட்டிலிருந்து தாக்குதல் வரக் கூடும் என்கிற அச்சுறுத்தல் ஏற்பட்டது. அப்படிப்பட்ட சமயத்தில், தெனாலி ராமனுக்கு எதிராக மன்னரை தூண்டிவிடுவதற்கு இதுவே சிறந்த வாய்ப்பு என்று அமைச்சர் சதி திட்டமிட்டார்.
ஒரு நாள், மன்னர் கிருஷ்ணதேவராயர் தனது தோட்டத்தில் அமர்ந்து எதையோ யோசித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தபோது, குறுக்குபுத்தி கொண்ட அரசவை உறுப்பினர் அங்கு வந்தார். நீங்கள் கோபப்பட மாட்டீர்கள் என்றால், நான் ஒன்று சொல்ல விரும்புகிறேன்", என்று அரசரிடம் கூறினான். அச்சப்படாமல் பேசு என்றார் அரசர். உங்களுக்குத் தெரியாது, தெனாலி ராமன் அண்டை நாட்டுடன் ரகசிய தொடர்புடையவர். அவ்வப்போது அரசவையின் ரகசியங்களை பக்கத்து நாட்டு மன்னருக்குக் கசிய விடுவார் என்றார் அரசவை உறுப்பினர்.
இதைக் கேட்ட மன்னர் கோபமடைந்து, முட்டாள்! தெனாலி ராமனைப் பற்றி இப்படிப் பேச நீ வெட்கப்பட வேண்டும். விஜயநகரத்தின் குடிமகன்களிலேயே மிகவும் விசுவாசமானவர் அவர். ஒரு தேசபக்தரும்கூட என்றார் மன்னர். அதற்கு அரசவை உறுப்பினர், பொய் ஐயா, அவர் உங்கள் கண்களை கட்டி வைத்துள்ளார். எனவே, நீங்கள் அவரின் எந்த வித்தையையும் பார்க்கவில்லை. ஆனால் எனக்கு உறுதிப்படுத்தப்பட்ட செய்தி கிடைத்துள்ளது. அரண்மனை உறுப்பினர் இவ்வளவு நம்பிக்கையுடன் சொன்னதும், மன்னருக்கும் தெனாலி ராமன் மீது சற்றே சந்தேகம் தலைதூக்கியது.
