Moneylender gets Punished
A moneylender named Ratnachandran lived in Vijayanagar. He charged heavy interest from the people for the loans. While he charged 50 percent interest, other moneylenders charged only 10-15 percent.
Tenali Raman came to know about the exorbitant interest charged by Ratnachandran. He decided to teach a lesson to the moneylender. Tenali Raman sent his friend Yogayya and to him to borrow five copper plates from Ratnachandran. When Yogayya returned the plates there were five small utensils in addition to that. Ratnachandran was surprised, 'Why is this small utensils?", he asked.
These were the utensils delivered by the big plates, Yogayya said. As a cunning greedy moneylender Ratnachandran was eager to possess the small utensils also. Okay. I forgot to remind you that the utensils were pregnant at the time of lending. He took away all the utensils to his room.
After a week, Raman called Yogayya again, “You go and borrow two gold plates as loan” Ratnachandran handed over gold plates without any hesitation. He reminded Yogayya that the gold plates were pregnant. "You must return the baby plates, when you come back." Yogayya reached Raman's house with the gold plates. Raman melted the plates and converted them into small ones. He presented the small melted plates to those people who suffered at the hands of Ratnachandran earlier. After two days, Ratnachandran called on Yogayya and demanded the gold plates. He was expecting the gold plates and little utensils.
Yogayya replied that the mother and baby utensils died at the time of delivery. The dejected money lender approached the king and complained. Raman who intervened in the matter told the king the whole episode. The king ordered to arrest Ratnachandran for charging excessive interest on loans.

விஜயநகரத்தில் ரத்னச்சந்திரன் என்ற கந்துவட்டிக்காரர் வசித்து வந்தார். கடனுக்காக மக்களிடம் அதிக வட்டி வசூலித்தார். அவர் 50 சதவீத வட்டி வசூலித்தபோது, மற்ற கந்துவட்டிக்காரர்கள் 10-15 சதவீதம் மட்டுமே வசூலித்தனர். ரத்னச்சந்திரன் அதிக வட்டி வசூலித்தது ராமனுக்கு தெரியவந்தது. கந்துவட்டிக்காரனுக்கு பாடம் புகட்ட முடிவு செய்தார். ரத்னச்சந்திரனிடம் இருந்து ஐந்து செப்புத் தகடுகளைக் கடன் வாங்கச் சொல்லி தெனாலி ராமன் தனது நண்பன் யோகய்யாவை அனுப்பி வைத்தார். தட்டுகளைத் திருப்பிக் கொடுக்கும்போது அதனுடன் கூடுதலாக ஐந்து சிறிய பாத்திரங்களையும் சேர்த்து யோகய்யா வட்டிகாரனிடம் ஒப்படைத்தார். ரத்னச்சந்திரன் ஆச்சரியத்துடன் "ஏன் இந்த சிறிய பாத்திரங்கள்?" என்று கேட்டார்.
“இவை பெரிய தட்டுகள் பிரசவித்த பாத்திரங்கள்", என்றார் யோகய்யா. தந்திரம் நிறைந்த பேராசைக்காரரான ரத்னச்சந்திரன் சிறிய பாத்திரங்களையும் அபகரிக்க பேராசை கொண்டார். "அதுசரி. உன்னிடம் தகடுகளை கொடுக்கும்போதே அவை கர்ப்பமாக இருந்ததை நான் தான் சொல்ல மறந்துவிட்டேன்” என்று சொல்லிவிட்டு எல்லாப் பாத்திரங்களையும் தன் அறைக்கு ரத்னச்சந்திரன் எடுத்துச் சென்றான்.
ஒரு வாரத்திற்குப் பிறகு, ராமன் மீண்டும் யோகய்யாவை அழைத்து, “நீ போய் இரண்டு தங்கத் தட்டுகளை கடனாக வாங்கி வா” என்றார். ரத்னச்சந்திரன் எந்தத் தயக்கமும் இன்றி தங்கத் தகடுகளைக் கொடுத்தார். தங்கத் தகடுகள் கர்ப்பமாக இருப்பதை அவர் யோகய்யாவுக்கு நினைவுபடுத்தினார். நீங்கள் திரும்பி வரும்போது குழந்தைத் தட்டுகளைத் திருப்பித் தர வேண்டும் என்றும் சுட்டிகாட்டினார். யோகய்யா தங்கத் தகடுகளுடன் ராமனின் வீட்டை அடைந்தார். ராமன் அவற்றை உருக்கி சிறியதாக மாற்றினார். சிறிய உருகிய தட்டுகளை அவர் மக்களுக்கு வழங்கினார். இரண்டு நாட்களுக்குப் பிறகு ரத்னச்சந்திரன் யோகய்யாவை அழைத்து தங்கத் தகடுகளை கேட்டார். அவர் தங்கத் தகடுகளுடன் சிறிய பாத்திரங்களையும் எதிர்பார்த்தார்.
