CAN DREAMS COME TRUE?

One night, Krishnadev raya had a strange dream. He dreamt of a magical palace that floated in air. It was made of gold and dazzling stones, and had all comforts and amenities. The king woke up and shared his dream with his courtiers. Then the king said, “I will give a thousand gold coins to whoever builds such a palace.”

Everyone in the court was dumbstruck at the king’s announcement, as they all knew that building such a palace was impossible. None of them, however, dared to tell him. The courtiers went to Tenali Raman for help, as they knew what the consequences would be if they dared to disobey the king. The next day, when Krishnadev raya was sitting in his court, an old man came crying to him for justice.

The old man said, “Your majesty, I need justice, as I have been robbed of all my life’s savings.”

Then the king asked, “Who had robbed you? Tell me, and I will make sure you get justice.”

The old man then, with his voice trembling, said, “Your majesty, I had a dream last night. You, along with your thousands of soldiers, came to my house and looted my entire life’s savings.”

Hearing this, the king lost his patience and angrily said, “Are you insane, old man? It is your dream, and dreams do not come true”. “But your majesty, if your dream of building a hanging palace can come true, then why can’t mine?” asked the old man in a calm and assertive voice.

Saying these words, the old man took off his disguise, and the whole courtroom gasped, as the old man was none other than Tenali Raman. He then bowed before the king and said. “Your majesty, apologies for taking such liberty, but this was the only way to convince you that your dream was far from reality.”

The king understood his mistake and praised Tenali Raman for his intelligence.

கனவுகள் நிறைவேறுமா?

ஒரு நாள் இரவு, கிருஷ்ணதேவ ராயர் ஒரு விசித்திரமான கனவு கண்டார். காற்றில் மிதக்கும் மந்திர அரண்மனையை அவர் கனவு கண்டார். இது தங்கம் மற்றும் திகைப்பூட்டும் கற்களால் ஆனது. மேலும் அனைத்து வசதிகளும் இருந்தன.

அரசனுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிய மறுக்கத் துணிந்தால் என்ன விளைவுகளை சந்திக்க நேரிடும் என்பதை அறிந்த அரசவையினர் தெனாலி ராமனிடம் உதவிக்காகச் சென்றனர். அடுத்தநாள், கிருஷ்ணதேவ ராயர் அரசவையில் அமர்ந்திருந்த போது, ஒரு முதியவர் அவரிடம் நியாயம் கேட்டு அழுதார்.

முதியவர், “எங்கள் அரசே, எனது வாழ்நாள் சேமிப்புகள் அனைத்தும் பறிக்கப்பட்டதால் எனக்கு நீதி வேண்டும் ” என்றார்.

அப்போது அரசர், “உங்களை யார் கொள்ளையடித்ததுசொல்லுங்கள், உங்களுக்கு நியாயம் கிடைப்பதை உறுதி செய்கிறேன்” என்றார்.

அப்போது முதியவர் நடுங்கிய குரலில், “அரசே, நான் நேற்று இரவு ஒரு கனவு கண்டேன். நீங்கள், உங்கள் ஆயிரக்கணக்கான ராணுவ வீரர்களுடன் சேர்ந்து, என் வீட்டிற்கு வந்து, என் வாழ்நாளின் முழு சேமிப்பை கொள்ளையடித்தீர்கள்” என்றார்.

இதைக் கேட்ட அரசர் பொறுமை இழந்து கோபத்துடன், “உங்களுக்கென்ன பைத்தியம் பிடித்துவிட்டதா முதியவரே? இது உங்கள் கனவு, கனவுகள் நனவாகாது” என்றார். “அரசே, தொங்கும் அரண்மனை கட்டும்உங்கள் கனவு நனவாகும் என்றால், ஏன் என்னுடையது முடியாது?” என்று முதியவர் அமைதியான மற்றும் உறுதியான குரலில் கேட்டார்.

இந்த வார்த்தைகளைச் சொல்லி, முதியவர் தனது மாறுவேடத்தைக் கழற்றினார். அந்த முதியவர் வேறு யாரு மல்ல தெனாலி ராமன் என்பதால் அரசவையினர் அதிர்ந்துபோயினர். பிறகு அரசரை வணங்கிய தெனாலிராமன், "மாண்புமிகு அரசே, இத்தகைய சுதந்திரத்தை எடுத்துக் கொண்டதற்கு மன்னிக்கவும். உங்கள் கனவு, நிஜத்திலிருந்து வெகு தொலைவில் உள்ளது என்பதை உறுதிப்படுத்த ஒரே வழி இதுதான்" என்றார்.

மன்னர் தனது தவறை உணர்ந்து தெனாலி ராமனின் புத்திசாலித்தனத்தை மெச்சினார்.
