The Way To Heaven

Birbal was King Akbar's favourite minister. While amusing the King, Birbal has earned other's jealousy and certain enemies in the court. They were always awaiting to avenge Birbal. Akbar's Barber and his friend Yasim were one among them. When Akbar summoned the barber to cut his hair, after a while, the barber suddenly asked him a weird question. He asked whether or not Akbar ever has sent someone to heaven to enquire about the whereabouts of his late family. Akbar was shocked to listen to this.

The barber then explained to him that Yasim of Akbar’s court is able to do this. The next day Yasim was summoned to the court and he described King Akbar the way to visit his late family. He said that Birbal can do this task. All he has to do is to conduct certain rituals and send Birbal to heaven . Akbar could smell the evil plan behind this idea and the threat for Birbal’s life. But Akbar was sure that Birbal would efficiently and cunningly escape from the danger.

When this ritual was explained to Birbal he asked for four days before he leaves for heaven. Finally the ritual was carried out and Birbal used wet wood to create a lot of smoke to escape unnoticed through a tunnel. Months passed by and finally one day Birbal came to the court. His look was completely different. He had long hair, overgrown beard and looked very rough. When asked about the reason behind his look, he said that since there is no barber in the heaven everyone staying there is facing this problem and wants a barber there, including Akbar’s own barber.

மன்னர் அக்பரின் விருப்பமான மந்திரி பீர்பால். மன்னரை பீர்பால் மகிழ்விக்கையில், மற்றவரின் பொறாமையையும் சில எதிரிகளையும் சேர்த்தே அரசவையில் சம்பாதித்தார். அவர்கள் பீர்பாலை பழிதீர்க்க எந்நேரமும் காத்திருந்தார்கள். அக்பரின் முடிதிருத்துநர் மற்றும் அவரது நண்பர் யாசிம் இத்தகைய பொறாமை பிடித்த கூட்டத்தை சேர்ந்தவர்களே.

அக்பர் முடி வெட்டுவதற்காக முடிதிருத்துநரை அழைத்தபோது, சிறிது நேரம் கழித்து, முடிதிருத்தும் நபர் திடீரென்று ஒரு விசித்திரமான கேள்வியைக் கேட்டார். தனது மறைந்த குடும்பத்தாரின் இருப்பிடத்தைப் பற்றி விசாரிக்க அக்பர் யாரையாவது சொர்க்கத்திற்கு அனுப்பியிருக்கிறாரா, இல்லையா என்ற கேள்வியை முடிதிருத்துநர் எழுப்பினார். இதைக் கேட்ட அக்பர் அதிர்ச்சிஅடைந்தார்.

அக்பரின் நீதிமன்றத்தைச் சேர்ந்த யாஸிமால் இதைச் செய்ய முடியும் என்று முடிதிருத்துநர் விளக்கினார். அடுத்த நாள் யாசிம் அரசவைக்கு வரவழைக்கப்பட்டார். மேலும் அவர் தனது மறைந்த குடும்பத்தைப் பார்ப்பதற்கான வழியை அக்பரிடம் விவரித்தார். இந்த பணியை பீர்பால் செய்ய முடியும் என்று கூறினார். மன்னர் செய்ய வேண்டியதெல்லாம் சிலசடங்குகளை நடத்தி பீர்பாலைசொர்க்கத்திற்கு அனுப்பிவைப்பதுதான் என்றார்.

இந்த யோசனையின் பின்னணியில் உள்ள சதித்திட்டத்தையும் பீர்பாலின் உயிருக்கு இருக்கும் அச்சுறுத்தலையும் அக்பரால் உணர முடிந்தது. அதேநேரம் திறமையாகவும் தந்திரமாகவும் ஆபத்தில் இருந்து பீர்பால் தப்பிவிடுவார் என்பதில் அக்பர் உறுதியாக இருந்தார்.

பீர்பாலிடம் சடங்கு விளக்கிக்கூறப்பட்டதும் தான் சொர்க்கத்திற்குச் செல்வதற்கு முன் நான்கு நாட்கள் அவகாசம் தேவை என்றார் பீர்பால்.இறுதியாக சடங்கு மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டது. யாருடைய கண்ணிலும் படாமல் பீர்பால் ஒரு சுரங்கப்பாதை வழியாக தப்பிக்க திட்டமிட்டார். அதற்கு நிறைய புகையை உருவாக்க ஈரமான விறகை பயன்படுத்தினார். மாதங்கள் பல கடந்து செல்ல பீர்பால்ஒருநாள் அரசவைக்குத் திரும்பினார்.

அவரது தோற்றம் வித்தியாசமாக இருந்தது. நீண்ட கூந்தலோடும் அதிகமாக வளர்ந்த தாடியோடும்கரடுமுரடாகக் காட்சியளித்தார். காரணத்தை கேட்டபோது, சொர்க்கத்தில் முடித்திருத்துநர் இல்லாததால் அங்குள்ள அனைவருக்கும் இந்தசிக்கல் இருப்பதாக பீர்பால் சொன்னார். ஆகையால் அங்கு நிறையமுடித்திருத்துநர்கள் தேவைப்படுகிறார்கள், அக்பரின் முடித்திருத்துநர் உட்பட என்றார் பீர்பால்.
