AN ADAMANT CHILD
On one occassion Birbal was late to the court of Emperor Akbar. When enquired for the reason, Birbal explained how he was stuck with his crying kid which caused him the delay in getting to the court. Akbar thought Birbal was lying and thus he was not impressed with the answer and insisted that convincing a child can’t be that difficult.
To convince Akbar, Birbal decided to pretend like a kid and showed Akbar the challenges one faces when trying to convince a crying kid. As a child, he first started jumping around and threw a lot of tantrums and sat in Akbar’s lap. Akbar kept asking him to behave nicely.
Then Birbal asked for a sugarcane and insisted Akbar to cut it into pieces and then changed his mind again and asked for full cane from the cut pieces.
Then he asked for pot to be brought to him. When it was given to him he again started wailing. When Akbar asked him what is wrong, Birbal insisted that one of the palace elephants should get inside the pot. When Akbar said it is impossible, Birbal started crying vehemently. Finally Akbar was fed up and lost his cool. Akbar had to finally agree that convincing a kid is not easy.
பிடிவாதமான குழந்தை
ஒருமுறை பீர்பால், அக்பரின் அரசவைக்குத் தாமதமாக வந்து சேர்ந்தார். தாமதத்துக்கான காரணத்தைக் கேட்டபோது, அழுதுகொண்டிருந்த தனது குழந்தையிடம் எப்படி சிக்கிக்கொண்டார் என்பதை பீர்பால்விளக்கினார்.
அதனால்தான் அரசவைக்கு வந்து சேர தாமதம் ஏற்பட்டது என்றார். பீர்பால் பொய் சொல்வதாக அக்பர் நினைத்தார். இதனால் அவர் பதிலில் திருப்தி ஏற்படவில்லை. மேலும் ஒரு குழந்தையை சமாதானப்படுத்துவது அவ்வளவு கடினம் அல்ல என்று வாதிட்டார்.
அக்பரை நம்பவைக்க, ஒரு குழந்தைபோல நடிக்க பீர்பால் முடிவு செய்தார். அதன்மூலம் அழும் குழந்தையை சமாதானப்படுத்துவதில் உள்ள சவால்களை அக்பருக்கு தெளிவுபடுத்தினார். சிறுபிள்ளைபோல முதலில் அங்குமிங்கும் குதித்து, கடுப்பேற்றும் செயல்களில் ஈடுபட்டவாறு அக்பரின் மடியில் ஏறி உட்கார்ந்து கொண்டார்.
நல்ல விதமாக நடந்து கொள்ளும்படி மீண்டும் மீண்டும் அக்பர் கேட்டுக் கொண்டார். பின்னர் கரும்பு ஒன்றைக் கேட்ட பீர்பால் அதை துண்டுகளாக வெட்டும்படி அக்பரிடம் வற்புறுத்தினார். பிறகு தனது எண்ணத்தை மாற்றிக்கொண்டு, வெட்டப்பட்ட துண்டுகளிலிருந்து முழு கரும்பு வேண்டுமென அடம்பிடித்தார்.
அடுத்து ஒரு பானை கொண்டுவந்து தரும்படி கேட்டார். பானை கொடுக்கப்பட்டதும் மீண்டும் பீர்பால் அழுது புலம்பினார். என்ன பிரச்சினை என்று அக்பர் கேட்டபோது, அரண்மனை யானைகளில் ஏதேனும் ஒன்று அந்த பானைக்குள் செல்ல வேண்டும் என்று வற்புறுத்தினார்.
அது இயலாத காரியம் என்று அக்பர் கூற மீண்டும் அழுது புரண்டார் பீர்பால். கடைசியில் அக்பர் களைத்துப்போய் தன் பொறுமையை இழந்தார். அடம் பிடிக்கும் குழந்தையை சமாதானப்படுத்துவது ஒன்றும் எளிதல்ல என்பதை கடைசியில் அக்பர் ஒப்புக் கொண்டார்.
