இசை: புள்ளியும் இருக்கிறது. Comma-வும் இருக்கிறது.
இனியன் : அப்படியெனில், இரண்டுக்கும் நடுவில் வரக் கூடியதுபோல எதுவும் இருக்குமோ?
இசை: புள்ளியை விட வலிமை குறைந்த இடமாகவும், comma-வை விட வலிமை மிகுந்த இடமாகவும் இருக்கும்போது அந்த இடத்தில் semicolon-ஐ பயன்படுத்த வேண்டும். சரியா?

1. ஒரு வாக்கியத்தில் பல்வேறு பட்டியல்களைப் பிரிக்க அரைப்புள்ளியைப் பயன்படுத்த வேண்டும். (Use semicolon to separate various lists in a sentence.)
My uncle had to buy apples, oranges, tomatoes, onions, and potatoes; liquid detergent, soap, shampoo, paste, and hand wash; chocolates, ice cream, and dry fruits on his way home.

Livin, the musician; Dino, the singer; Lijo, the photographer; Sai, the athlete; Dhanyasri, the storyteller will be present for the gathering today evening.
2. கூட்டு வாக்கியங்களில் (compound sentence) adverb-ற்கு முன் அரைப்புள்ளியைப் பயன்படுத்த வேண்டும். (Use semicolon before conjunctive adverbs in compound Sentences.)
We planned to take a trip to Ooty; however, we could not go through with it.
The dress we picked was available in different sizes; therefore, we decided to pick one for each of us.
Pranesh had to show his performance today; otherwise, he would have to wait another week until he is given a chance.
3. ஒரு வாக்கியத்தில் உட்பிரிவுகளை (Clauses) இணைக்க அரைப்புள்ளியைப் பயன்படுத்த வேண்டும். (Use of a Semicolon to Link Clauses in a Sentence.)
There was an accident in our area; the police reported the case and took the damaged vehicle to the station.
Yazhini had her final exam today; she seems to have done it well.
