பாட்டி: Positive degree வார்த்தையில் y என்ற எழுத்து கடைசி எழுத்தாக வரும் போது, y என்ற எழுத்தை நீக்கி விட்டு, comparative degree யில் ier ம், superlative degree யில் iest ம் சேர்க்க வேண்டும்.

இசை: பொதுவாகவே y என்ற எழுத்து, கடைசி எழுத்தாக வரும் பொழுது கொஞ்சம் கவனமாக இருக்க வேண்டும்.
இனியன்: ஆமாம். noun ஆக இருந்தால் அதன் plural வார்த்தையை எழுதும் போது கடைசி எழுத்தான y க்கு பதிலாக ies சேர்த்து எழுதுவோம்.
உமையாள்: Exactly. அது போல verb ஆக இருந்தால் past tense யில் கடைசி எழுத்தான yக்கு பதிலாக ied சேர்த்து எழுதுவோம்.
பாட்டி: Excellent. அடுத்த rule ஐப் பார்ப்போமா?
மித்ரன்: சொல்லுங்க பாட்டி.
பாட்டி: positive degree யில் இருந்து comparative degree க்கு மாற்றும் போது வார்த்தையின் கடைசியில் er ம். Superlative degree க்கு வார்த்தையின் கடைசியில் est ம் சேர்த்து எழுதுவோம்.

பாட்டி: ஒரு நபரின் இரண்டு வேறுபட்ட குணங்களை ஒப்பிடும் வேளையில் comparative degree உடன் ‘er’ சேர்த்து பயன்படுத்துவதில்லை. அதற்கு பதிலாக, comparative degree யில் more சேர்த்து எழுத வேண்டும்.
Rule–6
Mithran is more soft than strong.Iniyan is more kind than wise.Umaiyal is more wise than soft.She is the most cool than nervous.I am feeling more heavy than relaxed.
பாட்டி: Irregular adjective என்று ஒரு category இருக்கிறது. அதற்கு rule என்று எதுவும் கிடையாது. மனப்பாடம் தான் செய்து கொள்ள வேண்டும்.
மித்ரன்: ஆகா. அது எப்படி?
பாட்டி: பயப்பட வேண்டாம். பழகப் பழக irregular adjective ம் நம் வசப்பட்டு விடும்.
